NFL Commish Cracking Down On Fans

It now appears Roger Goodell, the NFL commissioner has decided to crack down not only on the players and others associated with the NFL teams but now also the fans who attend the NFL's games throughout the nation.

"We want everyone to be able to come to our stadiums, behave properly, enjoy this experience but don't ruin it for others," said Goodell. "We will be focusing on that, including the implementation of an NFL fan conduct policy which we will have out prior to the season." -- Roger Goodell

Here are a few incidents that have happened in years past that involve NFL fans and violence.

In 1995, when unruly Giant fans pelted the field and knocked the opposing equipment manager unconscious with ice-balls, the league might have thought it had a problem.

In 1997, when over 60 fistfights broke out at Veterans Stadium in a nationally televised game, prompting Philadelphia to assign a municipal court judge to the stadium on game days in '98, the league might have thought it had a problem.

In 2000, when that Raider fan stabbed a Charger fan, the league might have thought it had a problem.

In 2001, when Browns fans showered the field with plastic beer bottles, the league might have thought it had a problem.

In 2003, when three Charger fans beat a Jaguar fan into unconsciousness, the league might have thought it had a problem.

The University of Oregon has installed a plan similar to this in the past where Fans are responsible to inform authorities of misconduct.

Justin provided his own thoughts on how to control this problem:

1. Alcohol monitors roaming the stadium to watch out for drunks
2. Teach vendors to notice who has had too much
3. Shut down the vendors who are mobile and can sell drinks.

It appears to be a good idea for Goodell to get in on this as there have been constant problems every year it seems.

But doesn't this seem like Big Brother is watching type of thing?

Good story, about time the nfl started dealing with the rif raf that attend games. If I am going to spend $200 to take my family to one game, the last thing I want is some jxxk drunk out of his/her mind sitting next to me!
