Justin loves lists and I found a list that could turn into a very good topic feeder.
SI.com had a nice list of 5 players who they felt had some of the best games ever in sports while playing hurt.
Here is how their list breaks down:
5. Bryon Leftwich- Fractured his shin during a 2002 game against Akron and continued to play the rest of the game. Brought the team back to win and had the famous scene where his players carried him down the field to continue playing after each play.
4. Isiah Thomas- Game Six of the 1988 NBA Finals, Thomas fractured his ankle but stayed in the game and scored 25 points in the fourth quarter, carrying the Detroit Pistons, but still losing the game.
3. Curt Schilling- His bleeding sock in the 2004 ALCS against the New York Yankees in which the Sox came back and won the series down 0-3.
2. Kirk Gibson- Despite two bad knees and a stomach flu, Gibson wobbled onto the field during the 1988 World Series and jacked a home run to win Game One.
1. Willis Reed- Game 7 in 1970 for the NBA title Reed limped onto the court in spite of a torn thigh muscle and led the Knicks to an NBA title.
Agree with the list? Disagree? Let us know.
