Tiger Woods Gets Slammed By Sports Writer

Tiger Woods is an idiot. A mesmerizing, peerless, incandescent idiot.

If he'd used his head at all, he would never have entered the U.S. Open last week with a double stress fracture and a torn ligament in his left leg. Woods marched 21 miles over the longest layout in Open history, playing five rounds and 24 hours of spellbinding golf, repeatedly wincing before he could plant a ritual smooch on the side of the coveted trophy Monday afternoon. Then, two days later, he had to kiss the rest of his season goodbye.

Thats the first paragraph of Gwenn Knapp of the San Francisco Chronicle's piece on Tiger Woods and his lack of judgment to get his surgery on his torn ACL in his left leg. If you'd like to read the rest of the story click here.

Now I understand Knapp's viewpoint saying that Tiger shouldn't have waited that long to do the surgery because of the effects it will have on his knee but personally it's Tiger's choice to wait and he knew of all risks he was taking.

Wait, what risks? I'm no doctor but once you tear your ACL you can't do any more harm to that ligament until it completely heals over.

But what about the idea that he sacrificed the rest of this season and possibly early next season to win one tournament?

Its the U.S. Open! Its personally right up there with the Masters and British Open! Maybe Tiger wanted to see if he could continue playing with the pain and then take the surgery after the US Open. Who knows what his entire plan was with the surgery but all I know is that he's good enough to win one of the toughest tournaments in the PGA Tour with a torn ACL.

Do you agree with Knapp's article? Disagree with what I said? Let us know... please...ok or not.
