
Rich "Goose" Gossage smiled broadly as he held his new Hall of Fame plaque.
It was nine years in the making for the dominant Yankees
reliever, but he finally had his day at Cooperstown after coming up short on the ballots in his first eight attempts.
Commissioner Bud Selig ran off the highlights of Gossage's career that included stints with the White Sox, Pirates, Padres, Cubs, Giants, Rangers
, Athletics and Mariners.
"This is the most amazing thing outside the birth of my three sons," Gossage said.
