Whats It Like To Be A Knick Fan

Who Will Be This Year's Bust?

Here is the question of the day for everyone that reads this outside of my parents...

Who is going to be the NBA's bust for this year's draft?

Personally I think Jason Thompson from Rider who went at number 12 to the Kings will be a bust. Its not that Thompson isn't going to be a good player as I think a normal #12 pick will be. Hes going to be a very solid player that will stick in the league for awhile but he could have been easily picked up almost 10 picks later in the draft.

Disagree? Agree? Let us know or call Justin better yet!

American Athlete Playing For Russia In Olympics

Becky Hammon went undrafted during her rookie season, Hammon was signed to the WNBA with the New York Liberty in 1999 and went on to become on the leagues best players today. Shes now come to believe she will not be on the American Olympic team this summer over in China she has decided to instead go and play for Russia even though she isn't a natural born citizen and has only become a immigrant to Russia earlier in the year.

ESPN's Outside The Lines did a piece on this topic and is well worth the watch.

Whats It Like To Be Passed Over In A Draft?

Here is YouTube clip thats from ESPN I am assuming that followed Brook Lopez around as he was dropping like a fly in the NBA Draft. They choose the wrong player though as Kansas star Darrell Arthur dropped really far due to a false report on his health.

Post NBA Draft

Since I'm a Suns fan I won't go too much into detail about how much I am upset with the brass and instead I will go more into the local team's draft and thats Portland.

Portland came away winners again in the NBA draft and according to ESPN's anyalists the Blazers got another "A" grade and that makes three in a row now for the Blazers. Getting Bayless for pretty much the 11th pick will come right in and be a contributor for the Blazers. My best guess on what the Blazers will do is have Roy run the point in tough situations and then have Bayless bring it up when its not close or still early. Then getting Batum from France is huge. Batum was a guy who was slotted to be a lotto pick in the spring and after some medical scares he dropped to late 1st round. Thats an absolute steal right there in Batum.

So lets hear what everyone's favorite team's draft grade and your feelings towards their moves.

Your The GM: Fix The Mariners

Alright folks its been about a week and a few days since the Seattle Front Office has cleaned house and the Mariners are dead set not making the playoffs. With July fast approaching what do the Mariners need to do to right the ship and turn things around for the future?

Lets play GM really quickly and see what everyone can think up to help fix the problems up in Seattle.

Here is the Intern's idea on how to fix the M's.

  1. Trade Ichiro for as many draft picks or talented prospects in a MLB farm system.
  2. Dump Bedard for anything you can get.
  3. Admit your going to be bad for a few years to come and accept it.
  4. Build your farm system up and plan to make a World Series Push on the 5 year plan.

Do You Believe Imus?

On Monday's show we discussed the comments from Don Imus about Adam Jones also known as Pac Man Jones.

Here is the transcript acquired from a TV station's website in Jacksonville:

Wolf: "Defensive back Adam 'Pacman' Jones, recently signed by the Cowboys. Here's a guy suspended all of 2007 following a shooting in a Vegas night club."

Imus: "Well, stuff happens. You're in a nightclub, for God's sake. What do you think's gonna happen in a nightclub? People are drinking and doing drugs, there are women there, and people have guns. So, there, go ahead."

Wolf: "He's also been arrested six times since being drafted by Tennessee in 2005."

Imus: "What color is he?"

Wolf: "He's African-American."

Imus: "Well, there you go. Now we know."

Then later in the day on Monday Imus gave this reasoning and comments on his statement:

Later Monday, Imus responded to criticism of his comments, saying he had been misunderstood. "I meant that he was being picked on because he's black," Imus said in a statement released by his spokesman.

Question now stands for you the people who are listeners and hopefully readers of this show. Does Imus' reasons close the case for you? Do you believe him? Should he be fired?

Don Imus Does It Again

Does Don Imus really get it in life that you can't be racist and express it over the airwaves on the radio?

Check out this clip from a show Imus did with Al Sharpton.

When told by sports announcer Warner Wolf that Jones is "African-American," Imus responded: "There you go. Now we know."

Shaq Kobe Fued Reignites

This video came from TMZ where apparently Shaq just dropped a grenade into the Kobe Camp with this Freestyle Rap from a club in New York City over the weekend. The rap goes into detail about Kobe losing the NBA Title because he wasnt there and for blaming Kobe for the divorce with his wife.

Please be prepared for some illicit lyrics and if you have kids near by use the earmuff approach.

Team USA Basketball Roster Annouced- Excited?

Team USA has announced its 2008 Olympic basketball team that will try to compete with the rest of the world for the gold metal in Men's Basketball.

The roster goes like this:

Kobe Bryant- G
Dwight Howard- F/C
LeBron James- F
Chris Paul- G
Jason Kidd- G
Tayshaun Prince- F

Is American excited for Olympic basketball? Will our national team ever reach the peak it reached in 1992 when the "Dream Team" was created and crushed the world's attempt to play some basketball against the United States' best players.

George Carlin Sportsidol Tribute

George Carlin died Sunday at age 71 due to heart failure. He will sorely be missed and to give him a proper "SportsIdol" tribute we found this clip of him describing the differences between football and baseball.
