What Was Your Batting Stance?

Well this topic seems to be getting a lot of response, what major league batting stance did you model your stance after?

Find the list here

I was a big fan of Craig Counsel who fell at #6 on the list.

Justin was huge on Andre "the hawk" Dawson.

There's way to many to list but if you got one not on the list let us know, cause we need to update our stances in our daily office whiffle ball games.

And Now For Some Real Sports...

The NBA gave us the most spectacular comeback in finals history last night. Or the most disaterous choke job. It kind of all depends on your point of view.

So what is your point of view;

Choke Job

Comeback

Also...

Caller John started a discussion about who was the best athlete to ever wear the number 13.  So far the discussion has included Wilt Chamberlin, Dan Marino and Alex Rodriguez.

Whose the best?  Got any others to add to the list?

What's Your Sports Superstition?

The talk of the day is of course, the fact that its Friday the 13th. Sure, there may have been probably the best comeback in sports history last night. Sure, we might be in the middle of a very interesting golf tournament. But it's a Friday so we're having some fun.

If you're like Justin and myself (Producer Joey) you had some superstitions while playing sports.

I never stepped on the chalk line while playing baseball.

Justin would pee his pants if anyone would suggest him wearing the number 13.

Are the NBA Playoffs Being Overshadowed?

So, this is Producer Joey taking over the reigns of this whole "blog" thing and I've been here at the studios of "The Score" for around four hours now and have listened to Steve's show, The Writer's Block and now the first 45 minutes of The Sports Idol.

Being here for all three shows I've observed something, this Tim Donaghy situation seems to be overshadowing the NBA playoffs.  In all three shows (well I should give Justin some time his show just started) the main topic of conversation has been refereeing in the NBA and not the match-up of game 4 tonight.

Are the playoffs truly taking a back seat to the off the court (or maybe "IN court") happenings of the NBA or is this fixing games talk getting it's 15 minutes and going to be gone tomorrow?

Tiger Struggles at US Open

Tiger is back in the field, but after his first day on the course is sitting at +1. His struggles started early with a double bogey on the first hole of his round. Yet, as we all know even an injured Tiger is still a dangerous animal.

So, from what you've seen so far, would you still take the heavy favorite Tiger Woods or do you think he's still a bit away from being fully recovered from his knee surgery?

Laker's Phil Jackson Speaks On Donaghy Issue

Interestlingly enough Phil Jackson who coaches the Los Angles Lakers who are currently in the NBA Finals and down 1-2 against the Boston Celtics has spoke up about the issues regarding Tim Donaghy issues to a reporter at the New York Post.

"A lot of things have happened in the course of the Tim Donaghy disposition," Jackson said. "I think we have to weigh it as it comes out, and we all think that probably referees should be under a separate entity than the NBA entirely. That's what we'd like to see in the NBA. "It would just be separate and apart from it. But I don't think that's going to happen. That's just a want and desire in the area of having everything apart from the NBA."

What is very interesting is that David Stern and the front office of the NBA had implemented a rule where employees of the NBA were not allowed to comment on this issue. Can you say cover-up!

Oregon's Ray Schafer Signs Strange Contract

For all you "Big Ray" fans that didn't think he got the playing time he deserved or for you Oregon fans looking for an update on how the Oregon seniors are doing as they try to land a pro job playing basketball I got a small update on Ray Schafer for you.

Ray has signed an 11 month deal with the Shiga Lakestars, an expansion team in Japan's Basketball Japan League, coached by Oregon-native Robert Pierce.

Ray did a Q&A with the Daily Emerald which is the student run newspaper at the University of Oregon and I found a few interesting tid bits from the interview.

ODE: Is the salary enough to live on then, or is the team providing most what you need?

Ray: The contract takes care of two bicycles - usually you get cars, but down there you wouldn't want a car - so two bicycles, the apartment's furnished and transportation, everything's taken care of, so the only thing we'll have as an expense pretty much is food.

That's not exactly the thing you'd be thinking about when you're trying to sign a contract for a pro sport. But hey, sounds like Ray and his wife got what they wanted and sound excited to go over to Japan.

NBA Wading Into Deep Dangerous Waters

So what does Bud Selig, Roger Goodell, and now David Stern all have in common? They all are commissioners for their respected leagues (MLB, NFL, and NBA) have issues with players, drug dealers, coaches, or officials taking part in activities that will change an outcome of a game.

Tim Donaghy, the NBA ref who has been caught betting on games has now come out and created the start of the snow ball effect for the NBA.

According to Donaghy has brought about with his stunning accusations of biased officiating, fixed playoff games and other improprieties. He has put it all in play -- all the suspicions, all the skepticism, all the whispers that something about the NBA just doesn't feel completely on the up-and-up.

With the NBA trying to sweep this issue under the rug very quietly the media isn't letting it go away quietly. This just fuels the fire for the conspiracy theorist who believe the NBA rigs games and playoff series to get the teams they want.

Jr. Joins 600 Club

We broke the news here on 1320 "the score" that Ken Griffey Jr. broke a milestone that only five players had broken before him.  Griffey Jr. hit home run number 600 today against the Marlins' Mark Hendrickson.

Thanks to the wonderful world wide web we have the footage of the glorious event so check it out.

Our question to you, where does Griffey Jr. rank among all players of all time?  It's obvious he's in the category of best centerfielder ever, but could he rank about players like Barry Bonds or even Babe Ruth?

What's The More Popular Name in Eugene?

Justin is once again not working tomorrow as he'll be participating in a charity golf tournament for the athletic department at Northwest Christian College.  In a press release he received via email, our very own "Sports Idol" was listed ahead of Rose Bowl MVP Danny O'Neil in the list of guests.

Is he really a bigger draw than former Duck QB Danny O'Neil?

The Spin Doctor Is In...

Obviously the Celtics took it to the Lakers last night in game 2, but the boys from LA showed some grit in scratching their way to within 2 near the end of the game.  But the C's pulled it out maybe due to an overwhelming advantage at the free throw stripe, maybe because they locked it down on defense, maybe because Kobe can't figure out how to win it all without the Big Aristotle.

But the Lakers head home, where they haven't lost in quite some time, and have three games in Staples.  How would you spin either teams current situation?  Are the Celtics unstoppable? Is Kobe going to figure things out at home and start tearing things up like he has in previous rounds? Is Leon Powe the NBA's next superstar??!
